Each of us has a disability. For some, it is immediately obvious; for others, the
struggle on our journey to the Lord. The following prayer is one to help us all.
APrayer For Healing
You invite all who are burdened to come to You.
Allow Your healing hand to heal me.
Touch my soul with Your compassion for others.
Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all.

The Saint Bede Knights of Columbus, Fr. Rizer Council #6828, will sponsor the annual bus
trip to the January 2008 March For Life rally to be held in Washington, D.C.
This is the 35th year for the March which will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Please mark your
calendars and plan to attend! The March For Life will be prayerful and respectful. This is your opportunity to

What is the Jesse Tree?
The Jesse Tree represents the family of Jesse, the father of King David. Matthew 1:1-16 presents the
lineage from Abraham to Jesus and Luke 3:23-38 records Jesusancestors all the way back to Adam in the
Old Testament. The Jesse Tree namesake lived a thousand years before Jesus. Isaiah 11:1 says, Ashoot
Constructing a Jesse Tree with symbols of Jesusancestors during Advent is
an ancient tradition, although not so familiar as the Advent wreath. What a
wonderful way to learn about Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Noah, Jacob,
Mary, and more!
One may construct a Jesse Tree using branches or a small Christmas tree making the ornaments to
represent Jesusancestors and history. Symbols may include a burning bush, Noahs ark, Jonah in the
whale, the Star of David, the apple and the snake, Jacobs ladder, a dove, the earth, and others. These
symbols represent stories in the Old Testament of either an ancestor of Jesus or a prophecy about His
Hang one ornament each day of Advent, starting at the bottom and, on Christmas Eve, end at the top
with the Star of David for Christ. After hanging each ornament, read an appropriate Bible verse aloud.
During Advent, this ritual may replace your evening mealtime prayer, with each family member taking turns
reading that days passage. Enjoy!
